EAA Chapter 1418 is located in Fortuna, California just about 5 miles east of the Pacific Ocean and the Victorian Village of Ferndale.  We are known as the Lost Coast Aviators.

We are fortunate to live in one of the most beautiful areas on the planet.  It is also one of the most demanding for aviators due to the thickly wooded mountainous terrain, trickly little airports and finiky weather.  (Rhonerville (Fortuna), Murray (Eureka), Garberville (Southern Humboldt, and Shelter Cove (on the coast.)  Beautiful mountains, meandering rivers, gorgeous beaches and ocean views of incredible beauty give pilots a reason to fly every day the weather gods permit.

It is also one of the best places to build and fly airplanes.  With a very high number of aviation veterans in the area, we have a deep and experienced group of builder/pilots who are matched in equal number by a group of energetic and committed civilian builders, pilots and aviation enthusiasts.
