Red and Marilyn Hamilton reported that  a Young Eagles event that will be at Little River Airport in Mendocino County on May 7 from 9 AM to 11:30 AM.

May 17, 2014

Garberville Pilots Association held a Young Eagles Day with support from Willits EAA Chapter 1027.  It was a great day for flying with kids, everyone had a blast. Thanks to everyone involved and thanks to the community.

5.17.11  Weather looks good (even great) for the Young Eagles Event.  We are a go!

Our next Young Eagles event is scheduled for Saturday, May 21, 2011 starting at 12:00 Noon.  (Weather permitting.)  This event will be held for the first time at Garberville Airport in Southern Humboldt County.  This special event is by application and invitation only.  Stay tuned for more information.

You can also click HERE to go to the Young Eagles website of the Experimental Aircraft Association and learn everything about the Young Eagles program and other opportunities for young people to experience the joys of flight and learning.

The EAA Young Eagles program was launched in 1992 to give interested young people, ages 8 - 17, an opportunity to go flying in a general aviation airplane. These flights are offered free of charge and are made possible through the generosity of EAA member volunteers.

Since 1992, more than 1.5 million Young Eagles have enjoyed a flight through the program. Young Eagles have been registered in more than 90 different countries and have been flown by more than 42,000 volunteer pilots.

The Lost Coast Aviators conduct Young Eagles events every year at the Rohnerville Airport in Fortuna.  The 2011 season will be highlighted with a special first time Young Eagles Event in Southern Humboldt County.  No Rohnerville Airport Young Eagles Events are currently planned for 2011.

Slots are "first come, first served" and a parent or legal guardian must accompany the child to the event to authorize us to give their child a ride.  There is no charge and each child will receive a Young Eagles certificate and other gifts to commemorate their flight.

We use a variety of different airplanes with seating for 1 or as many as 3 riders.  So siblings and friends who wish to fly together most often get to do so.
